Abigail Nichols who known as just Abby. At beginning of the book, Abby is a fourth-grader along with her best friend, Sarah Moreside, and her another friend, Orrin Umhay in Lewisport. Her sisters, Rose, Fred, and Adele, along with Mama (Nell) and Pop (Luther). But Pop is not nice father to his kids and his wife. Pop has even forbad Abby to be with Orrin and Marie. In few chapters later, when Abby and her family has moved to Bargent Point (sorry if I has spelt this wrong) and met her future husband, Zander Burley, who was a Army soldier along with Richard, and former high-school/college student when Zander has married Abby in the ending. And shortly after, Mama became so sick since that Pop has sent Fred, who is a crippled boy to the special school just for the crippled kids/adults, probably just about few weeks later, Mama dies. Later in the book, when Abby was just now in the high school, she met two girls, Maureen and Darcy, and she also met; Wyman, Richard, and Helen March. In the nearly ending of the book, Helen married Abby`s father, and became her stepmom. Would recommend this book! - Happy Reading!

I loved this book. It's about Abby Nichols who grows up in the Depression Era. She has many ups and downs in her life, and I liked reading about how she dealt with it all. She is so cool.
