Tralalalalal-alalalalala-lalalala! Ah, Captain Underpants. The answer to the age old question of what to give boys who hate to read but are being forced to by somebody, whether a teacher or a relative or someone else entirely. There's something about Captain Underpants that is irresistible to a certain kind of boy or girl. I think it may have something to do with the combination of its comic book format, deeply silly plotlines, and the overall packaging. Whatever it is, when I'm at the children's desk of the library, I always look for this section. "I guess you can take it out... just so long as you don't own it" under their breath. For my own part, I wanted to see what all the fuss and folderol was about. What is it about Captain Underpants that leaves kids always wanting more? Whens its popularity? The first book that started it all is none other than "The Adventures of Captain Underpants", so I plucked it from a shelf and sat down to give it a good once over. A complete reading took roughly 30 minutes, if that. And my conclusion? For though we could probably talk back and forth for hours and hours about the relative merits of reading every single Captain Underpants creation, the fact of the matter is that the book is harmless fun. This is a popcorn book. It's light and fluffy and delightful. Just the kind of inane gibberish that'll lure kids to reading and keep them there. Its value is in its good natured humor and light-hearted storylines. It's not classy. It's just fun.

Interesting review! It makes me want to read this book, even though it's not quite my *cough* style *cough* :D

Es funny. Book. I. Love. It

this book was about 2 kids that made this captain underpants by hypnotizing the principal. these two students were really bad they are prankster kids. this book was ok i'm not a real big fan about fake super people.

this book is so funny. it's so cool how George and Harold hypnotize Mr. Krupp into thinking he's captian underpants. this is one of the best books ever. do read this book, you'll love it.

This book is full of gross bathroom humor that almost every kid would find funny! Becareful though this is a start to a series and is very easy to be hooked into and you culd get caught in a lot of gross humor with over the top pictures, jokes and fast-paced action!

In this book George and Harold create a comic character named captain underpants and he comes to life. will they defeat doctor diaper and save the world or will it explode ?

This is the first book in the series and I used to have a lot of interest in the series but now I don't. I think that people who like silly humor like underpants and toilets will like this book. I hope some people like it because I think Dave Pilkey is a good author. It is a good book for five year olds, six year olds, and under. That's my review.

Captain underpants is the comic-book creation of George and Harold, two fourth-grade troublemaking pranksters. After the two get caught by their child-hating principal Mr. Krupp sabotaging/pranking the school football game, they get in big trouble. Forced to cater to Mr. Krupp’s every whim, the boys seek revenge. They order a hypnosis ring which they use to mess with Mr. Krupp’s mind and accidentally turn him into a real-life Captain Underpants. Now it’s up to them to keep anybody else from finding out and save their town from the occasional supervillain, alien, or general bad-guy. This book is a hilarious read packed with adventure, mishaps, pranks, trouble and occasional superhero-saves-the-day moments.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants was about two boys named George and Harold. They were pranksters and always got in trouble. I liked how they got a ring that hypnotizes people. People who like to play tricks on people and people who like things that are funny would like this book.

This book was not good. I did Not like all the underwear and toilet humor. But this book is about George and Harold who have an evil principle that hates them because of all the pranks they pull. George and Harold write comics of Captain Underpants a superhero in just underwear. But can Captain Underpants fix George and Harold's problems?
