I reacamand this book if you like realistic fiction. This store is realistic fiction because the story of a dog and a girl could happen in real life. The girl wanted to keep the dog but her dad did not want her to. Later on in the Book she convinced her dad to let her keep the dog. All out through the book when she got the dog she would try to guess its name. This book was very fun to read but at first it sounded boring to me when I got into the book father it’s starting to get exciting and fun to read. this book is probably one of my favorite books that I have read because I like realistic fiction and dogs

More than anything, Dessa Dean needed a friend. A friend to love and confide in, a friend with whom she could share her heart. A friend who would delight in all the beauty and joy and fun of Christmas, only four days away.
Hope had just about run out, but then . . . there came a scratchin' at the door and Dessa Dean's life was forever changed.

This book took a while to read but i loved it. It was really sad but had a lot of really happy stuff too. I recommend it.
This book is filled with excitement and sadness, but don't worry! It's a wonderful book. I totally rate this five stars. My favorite part was when Dessa Dean tells about the past Christmases with her Mama. I recommend this book to anyone who likes stories with happy endings.
