The Darkdeep is a very entertaining plot about a mysterious island in a small town. It's about a trio of friends (Nico, Emma, and Tyler) who, partnered with the popular girl (Opal), jointly venture to the strange island where there are tons of rumors and legends about it. They find that the island contains a large boathouse, complete with strange artifacts and a mystical pool. Emma falls in the pool, finds herself waking up at the shore of the island, and discovers her imaginary friend from when she was young came to life for a few seconds on the island. This insane event makes them discover that they can temporarily bring whatever thing (Minions, Godzilla, stormtroopers, etc.) is on their mind to life on the island. While it's fun at first, the figments of their imagination start to last longer and become more aggressive. The group struggles to keep the island a secret while things get worse. This book is surprisingly interesting and engaging, and its plot is well thought-out and its characters are mature yet realistic.About 4 years agojeffdaboss added a book review.

Spark and the League or Ursus is a really interesting book set in a world where stuffed animals can come to life. It's about a teddy bear named Spark who is still learning to become a great protector for her human, Loretta. All of a sudden, a monster gets into Loretta's room through a magical portal to try and kidnap Loretta while she's asleep and Spark is barely able to stop it. The next day, Loretta's brother is kidnapped by the same monster. Spark is desperate to protect Loretta, and she and her mentor, Sir Reginald, work to try and take down the monster. The book is very unique, such as having a fight scene filled with teddy bears. However, it can seem a bit slow and boring at times. But in the end, it's a great story with a great conclusion.Over 4 years agojeffdaboss has read this book.

Jinxed is a really great book about the future. It's about a 7th-grade engineer named Lacey who lives in a world where smartphones are old and their nearly-universal replacement is the baku, an electronic animal with the features of a phone and the mind of a kind friend. She dreams of becoming a fundamental part of MONCHA Corp, the corporation that produces bakus, and the only way for her to do that is to get into Profectus Academy. While she is initially rejected, she ends up finding a baku and somehow receives an acceptance letter from the school. She fixes the baku and jumps right into the school year, only to find that things only get crazier from there. While this book is very appealing, people who are into STEM will be the most fascinated by the huge, technologically-advanced world described by the author.Almost 5 years agojeffdaboss added a book review.

Kid Activists is another good book in the Kid Legends series. It's about popular activists in their childhood. It covers a variety of activists, some of which I have never heard of, like Dolores Huerta. It discusses activists who ended up helping abolish slavery, like Alexander Hamilton and Rosa Parks. It presents activists who were born recently, like Emma Watson and Malala Yousafzai. It even features activists who became popular activists as a child, like Iqbal Masih and Autumn Peltier. This book encompasses a range of people who used their voices and experiences to change the world. This book is great for many because it inspires kids to use their voice, just like these kid activists.Over 5 years agojeffdaboss has read this book.
