I think that we agree on most of this topic, but one thing I would like to say is that Columbus was looking for a way to Asia for spices and since he knew the Earth was round he would just sail west he would eventually find it, and he THOUGHT he found India, hence the name Indians. Little did he know he was not in Asia but the Caribbean

Let's get this straight, Columbus did not discover America nor was he the first European to discover America. The first people to discover America were Asians who crossed a land bridge during an ice age. And the norse peoples (or vikings) were the first Europeans to discover the Americas, the norse peoples founded Greenland (which is technically part of North America) as well as Newfoundland in Canada. And it should stay Columbus Day because all though he may have killed many, the world would not be the same if he didn't accidentally discover the great land that we now call America today. p.s. sorry for the long comment

actually the Greeks knew the earth was round way before Columbus was even born. And the only reason columbus set off on his voyage was bc he knew the earth was round
